Woodwardia fimbriata

Giant Chain Fern: CA Native fern that is the largest American fern, with fronds 3-5' tall or more. Prefers part shade but will accept full shade. Will grow in open, somewhat sunny areas within the fog belt, when it has access to moisture. Best to cut it back to the ground in late winter just before the new fiddleheads begin to emerge. Deer resistant.
