Bee Plant: CA native. Deer resistant. Drought tolerant. 1/2” maroon flowers on 3-6’ tall flower spikes appear in profusion March through June attracting native bees and hummingbirds. Leaves host buckeye and checkerspot butterflies. The seed capsules feed small birds. Great for shady gardens or as a habitat plant for butterfly gardens. Spreads by rhizomes. Grows 3-5' high and 1-2' wide. Part shade to shade. Low to medium water. Tolerates clay soil.
