California Figwort, Bee Plant: CA native evergreen rhizomatic perennial with small, 1/2” long maroon-red flowers on 3-5’ flower stalks from February through May. Attracts native bees, hummingbirds, and Buckeye and Checkerspot butterflies. The seed capsules feed small birds. Full sun to part shade. Low to medium water. Seacoast, wind, clay, sand, and drought tolerant once established but appreciates regular water. Deer, rabbit and fire resistant.
