Blue elderberry: CA native deciduous shrub grows quickly to 8-15' tall and wide. Dense clusters of cream flowers appear in early summer and mature into hanging clusters of blue then black berries in late summer and fall. Fruits are attractive to birds. Low to medium water. Hummingbird and pollinator favorite. Full sun to part shade. Seacoast, wind, clay, sand, heat and drought tolerant once established.
