Catalina Currant, Island Gooseberry: California native evergreen groundcover to lowspreading shrub 2-3' tall x 4-6' wide, with fragrant foliage and small red flowers in late winter–spring. Part shade to shade. Low to medium water. Attracts hummingbirds, birds, wildlife, and pollinators. Good for containers and for cut foliage. Seacoast, wind, sand, clay, heat, and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit, gopher, and fire resistant.
