Catalina Currant, Island Gooseberry: California native evergreen groundcover to low spreading shrub 2-3' tall x 4-6' wide, with fragrant foliage and small red flowers in late winter–spring. Attracts hummingbirds, birds, wildlife, and pollinators. Good for containers and for cut foliage. Part sun to shade. Low to medium water. Seacoast, wind, sand, clay, heat, and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit, gopher, and fire resistant.
