Fuchsia-flowering Gooseberry: This California native deciduous shrub to 10' tall x 7' wide but usually closer to 4' tall. Horizontal arching branches and shiny, rounded, lobed leaves with sharp spines on the stems. Pendulous tubular red flowers that resemble small fuchsia flowers. Followed by round red currant fruit that are decoratively held through the summer. Full sun to part shade. Low water requirements but holds leaves to stems for longer when regularly watered.
