Ribes rubrum 'Red Lake' (Red Currant)

Red Lake Red Currant: Compact, mini-stemmed, deciduous, mounding, thornless shrub 3-5' tall. Glossy green, 3" wide lobed leaves that turn bright orange, red, and yellow, dropping early in the fall. In the spring, dangling clusters of greenish-yellow blooms are followed by small red currant berries in the summer. The delicious tart fruit is used in jellies and jams. Attracts hummingbirds, birds and pollinators. Great in containers and for cut flowers. Full sun to part sun. Medium water. Seacoast, wind, clay and sand tolerant. Deer, rabbit and fire resistant.
