Rhus ovata

Sugar Bush: Southern CA native shrub/tree well suited to chaparral slopes. Wide and woody in appearance, the sugar bush can grow anywhere from 2-10 meters with a rounded appearance. Mottled red and white bunched inflorescences occur from March to May that produce a a reddish hairy drupe during the summer. Used as an erosion control. Low water once established. Full sun to part shade.
