Rhododendron occidentale

Western Azalea: CA native deciduous shrub 3-6' tall x 4' wide. Grows in moist places and stream banks. Leafs out in the spring with bright green foliage and fragrant pinkish-white flowers. Attracts hummingbirds, birds and pollinators. Good for containers and for cut flowers. Part sun to part shade. Medium to high water. Seacoast, heat, sand and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit, gopher and fire resistant.
