Rare evergreen from Bolivia grows 2' tall x 4' wide with an olive-green, grass-like clump of spiny leaves leaves. In early summer it sends up an exotic and stunning showy multicolored flower stalk to 30” tall. This multi-branching spike has dark red bracts and eventually aquamarine-blue tips. Mature plants may have 6-8 long-lasting flower spikes. Tough, cold hardy and long lived. Low to medium water. Full sun to part shade. Deer, gopher, rabbit and fire resistant. Seacoast, wind, heat and drought tolerant once established. Great in containers and as a cut flower. Hummingbird favorite.
