Licorice Fern, Many-footed Fern, Sweet Root: Fern native to western North America, including CA, where it is found in shaded, damp locations. Spores are located in rounded sori on the undersides of the fronds, and are released in cool weather and high humidity. Fronds to 12" tall. Mostly evergreen but can lose foliage in the summer. Epiphytic. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant.
