Sampson's Snakeroot, Mountain Pea: Evergreen perennial. Clumping at the base and spreading from short rhizomes, low perennial eventually forms a broad mat. Violet pea-flowers in Summer. Medicinal and herbal uses in Cherokee culture. Also edible. Full sun to part shade, reasonably well drained soil, low to medium water. Grows up to 3' tall.
