Oso Berry: CA coastal and foothill native, dioecious, suckering shrub 5-7' tall x 5' wide found in streamside and moist areas. Nodding clusters of fragrant white flowers on bare stems in early spring. Upon successful pollination, this plant can produce small blue-black edible (but bitter) fruits. Best in part sun. Medium to high water (but not boggy) . Seacoast, wind, heat, sand, clay and drought tolerant once establoished. Deer, rabbit and fire resistant
