Mentha spicata 'Kentucky Colonel'

Official herb in the Kentucky Derby's mint julep drink, which is where name originated. Superior foliage to the species, with dark green leaves up to 3" long. Leaves have a characteristic spearmint flavor. Use as a flavoring or garnish, in teas, baths, as room deoderizer or as a mouth freshener. Moderately drought tolerant once established. Lilac colored blooms. 24-36" tall. Full sun to part shade. Medium to high water. Deer, rabbit and gopher resistant. Cut back to ground in winter.
