Giant Coreopsis: A succulent and woody trunked CA native summer-deciduous shrub that grows to 3-6' tall with a 2-4" diameter thick, stout, bare light gray-brown stems. Has bright green pinnatifid leaves that emerge in winter, followed by showy 3" wide yellow daisies that are good for cut flowers. Great in containers. Foliage dries up in summer leaving just the odd, sculptural looking stems. Historically used as as a medicinal and edible plant. Full sun. Low water. Prefers no summer water. Seacoast, wind, sand, heat and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit, gopher and fire resistant.
