Ribbon Bush, Ribbons and Curls, Tapeworm Plant, Centipede Plant: Unusual, upright evergreen, sprawling shrub 4-8' tall (or much taller with support) and as wide with long wands of flat, leaf-like, glossy-green stems 1/2"-3/4" wide. These curious looking "leaves" grow from older, typically rounded, light brown stems that are jointed at nodes, giving the leaves a tapeworm-like look, hence the strange common name. Small, white, fragrant flowers nested in the stem joints appear in late fall to winter, and are sometimes followed by red fruits which are edible and sweet, but not that tasty. Great in containers. Good indoors or outside. Herbal uses. Attracts birds and pollinators. Part sun to part shade. Medium water. Seacoast, wind, heat, clay, sand and drought tolerant when established. Deer, gopher, and rabbit resistant.
