Frangula (Rhamnus) californica

Coffeeberry: CA native shrub can eventually grow to 7' tall x 10' wide. Inconspicuous clusters of small, fragrant, greenish yellow blossoms followed by large berries that are tinged with red or purple, or black when mature. Adaptable, easy to grow, and useful. Full sun to part shade. Seacoast, wind, clay, sand, heat and drought tolerant once established. Low water. Attracts hummingbirds, birds and pollinators. Deer, rabbit and fire resistant.
