Fockea edulis

Hottentot Bread: Unusual, thin vining semi-evergreen plant that can grow stems 10' long or more, arising from large (edible) succulent tuberous roots (to 2' wide) that are twisted and gray colored with wart-like bumps called tubercules. Green and white flowers are slightly fragrant. Part sun to part shade. Well-drained soil. Low water. Great in containers. May produce 2" long grey green fruit.
