Tree Tomato, Tamarillo: Full sun to part shade. Does not tolerate frost. or strong winds. Does well in San Francisco. Semi-dormant in winter. Semi-woody, shallow-rooted, sub-tropical evergreen shrub with a treelike form that typically grows rapidly to 15’ tall or more.  Showy, Edible culinary or herbal uses, tomato-like fruit with fragrant pinkish white flowers and bold looking fragrant foliage. Fruits can be added raw to salads. Use in sauces, jams, compotes or chutneys.
