Browntwig Dogwood: Attractive CA native deciduous shrub with arching brown colored branches that grow to 10′ in moist areas, or 4′ in drier conditions. The bluish-white fruits of this species are reputed to be especially good for attracting birds. Small creamy white flower clusters in spring attract pollinators. Leaves turn red in fall. A garden worthy compact type of stream dogwood will eventually form a thicket. Part sun to part shade. Medium to high water, good for use in bogs and streamside. Clay and drought tolerant once established but prefers occasional water. Fire resistant.
