Brachychiton discolor

Pink Flame Tree: A medium sized easy to grow slow growing semi-evergreen tree 25-40' tall x 10-30' wide. It has a stout bottle-shaped trunk with gray, intricately furrowed bark. The large palmate, maple-like leaves are 4 to 8" in length and width. Can become partly deciduous when it flowers in late spring and summer. Rusty and velvety buds open to bell-shaped rose-pink flowers, followed 5-inch-long canoe-shaped pods that split open to reveal yellow seeds. Full sun. Wind, sand, clay and seacoast tolerant but does not appreciate salt spray. Low water needs, drought tolerant once extablished.
