Berberis darwinii

Evergreen shrub, 5-10' high x 4-7' wide, with broadly arching (fountain-like), densely branched, thorny twigs. Can spread by underground runners. Clusters of red burnished tangerine buds that open to vibrant orange flowers in March. Could be invasive near wildlands. Deer resistant. Full sun to part shade. Low to medium water.
