Berberis (Mahonia) nevinii

Nevin's Barberry: Rare CA Native evergreen shrub with greyish, sharp pointed leaflets on long, woody, arching branches. 6-10' tall and wide. New leaf growth emerges pink in the winter. Profuse, fragrant, yellow flower clusters in spring followed by red berries that attract birds. Blossoms attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Low water. Full sun to part shade. Heat, wind, clay, sand and drought tolerant once established. Deer, rabbit and fire resistant.
