Asphodeline lutea

Kings Spear; A rhizomatous long lived perennial with 1 foot long, linear grass-like gray-green leaves. In mid to late spring a leafy inflorescence rises to 3-4' topped by a dense 12-18" inch cylindrical raceme of fragrant, bright yellow flowers followed by green seed pods that become brown. Full sun or part shade in well-drained soil, medium to low water. Drought tolerant in coastal gardens.
