Agave shawii

Coastal Agave, Shaw's Agave: Clump forming evergreen CA native succulent with dark gray green spiny leaves that form rosettes 2-3' tall by 2' wide. At maturity (after 20 years) a large stout red and yellow inflorescence with a purple bract rises 6-14' from the center of the rosette. Full sun to part sun in well-drained soil. Low water needs with no summer water. Seacoast, wind, heat and drought tolerant. Deer resistant. Good for containers.
