Aeonium nobile
Noble Aeonium: A robust species that forms large rosettes to 12-15" across with thick fleshy orange to red-tinged olive-green rounded-tip triangular leaveson an unbranched stem 1-2' tall. After a couple to several years, the plant matures and in late winter to spring produces a large, exotic, huge inflorescence that rises on a red stalk over 1 foot wide and nearly as tall with many small star-shaped red flowers with white anthers. Flowers once but produces many viable seeds to perpetuate this beautiful plant. Great in containers. Attracts hummingbirds, bees and pollinators. Full sun to part shade. Low to medium water. Seacoast, wind, sand and drought tolerant once established, but prefers occasional water. Deer, rabbit, gopher and fire resistant.
