Fiveleaf Akebia: A robust vine, deciduous in colder climates, with slender, purplish stems as much as 30 feet long. These are closely set with five-parted deep green leaves, tinged with red in new growth. Each leaflet is broadly oval in outline and up to 3 inches long. Small clusters of three-parted white flowers, pleasantly scented, decorate the plant in spring.
